Blogging is something I love to do, but it costs me money to make it happen. From time to time I am going to be running sponsored posts like this one to help fund my efforts. This was not written by me, but all final edits and publication decisions were my own.
Look For Things Second Hand
Before buying anything brand new, look for things second hand. Ask yourself: does this item really need to be new? There are some things that absolutely should be purchased brand new, but when it comes to things like furniture, kids clothes, and toys you can save a lot of money by purchasing second hand. There are also a lot of great deals out there for purchasing refurbished appliances. This is a great way to save a little money, and create less waste by giving an item new life in your home.
Know When To Outsource
There are a lot of DIY tutorials out there on the internet, but we don't always have the time to try them out and see what works and what doesn't. For example, hiring a professional carpet cleaner, might cost you a little bit more upfront, but they will do a better job than any home remedy you found. They will also be done more quickly, and the carpet will dry faster.
Save Up An Emergency Fund
This is really key when it comes to making sure your family is covered when things go wrong. Make this a priority in your life, and your next unexpected car repairs won't throw your whole life into chaos.
Stick to a Maintenance Rotation
Having and following a maintenance rotation for your major appliances will ensure you aren't caught by surprise with unexpected repairs. Spread things out through the year into small tasks, and this way the upkeep of your home won't feel too overwhelming. Maintaining your appliances like this will also keep them in better shape which reduces the likelihood of major bills if something goes wrong.
Consider Shopping Solo
Often for busy parents there is no other choice, but consider shopping for groceries without the kids if you can. It will enable you to make your choices quickly, and it is easier not to be swayed to buy an expensive treat or toy if no one is there asking you for it. Either way you go, try to stick to your list, or consider the many options there are for online shopping.
